I do send txt messages, and I am guilty of using at least some shorthand to make it easier to write them whenever I can.

I didn't mean shorthand txt abbreviations should be banned from being used on a mobile phone for writing txt messages - they should be discouraged from being used on a discussion forum because there is no excuse for using them where there is ample space and a full size keyboard to type with.
