FORT MITCHELL - Kath-erine Smith carried around an ultrasound picture of twins and persuaded a mother, an employer and a family that she had undergone a Caesarean section.
The problem is, the entire pregnancy took place in Smith's head, police say.
Detectives, a pathologist and a prosecutor can find no evidence the 22-year-old woman was ever really pregnant. Prosecutors and police say all the evidence into the stabbing death of Smith indicates she lured a pregnant woman into her apartment to steal her fetus.
Smith died when the pregnant woman, Sarah Brady, 26, of nearby Latonia, grabbed a 5-inch pocket knife and fought back. No charges had been filed as of yesterday, and Commonwealth's Attorney Bill Crockett said he hasn't decided whether to present the case to a grand jury.
