Why are certain people on my staff trying to make me hate it ?????
I've never known anything like it, there are 7 of us in the store who SHOULD be working as a team right? no .... they're all stabbing each other in the back trying to outdo each other and genereally bitching constantly.
And the worst ones are my supposed management team !!!!!!! For example on Tuesday from 12noon there was only myself and my deputy manager in, I asked him to man the tills as I had work to do in the office. Now he KNOWS that I never ask ANYONE to stand on the tills for the whole of a long shift and that when it is just the 2 of us in I will take till myself after the afternoon tea breaks and let him run stock and cash up at night so it shouldn't be a problem right? well that's what I thought (let's face it .......how many other store manager's man tills?)
At just before 3 o'clock I went downstairs and said "Away for a cuppa Brian, I've put the kettle on for you" to which he replied "I'm gona nip across to the bakers .......I'm starving" so I replied "oh! if you were hungry you shoudl have shouted for me and you could have taken your break earlier" .... "no no it's ok" was the reply...
Then I find out that when he went to the Baker's he told the girl there (who unknown to Brian is a friend of mine
) "I've been waiting to get off that F*&^%$£ till for the last hour I'm bloody starving and she's been sat up in that office doing nothing"






How childish is that !!!! and he's a 58 year old man !!!!!!!!! I'm afraid I can't help it if he has a complex about his boss being almost half his age and female but he's going to get a shock
I aint gonna name any names to anyone but when I go in today everyone is going to be told that despite previous warnings abotu people being caught bitching it's till happening and as such from now on I will do the same as every other manager ........ leave the till work to other people. I'm gonna make it quite plain that the person they can blame for this is the person who was caught moaning on Tuesday (I can't wait to see his face) and if they dont' like it then tough.
Of course the other shock he's gonna get is that his contracted hours are abotu to get cut ....... a lot. Not my decision this time .... in fact I OFFERED to have my own contract cut as well as Brian so we could split the wage cuts between us ..........I was refused flat lol. He doesn't know it yet but I think he's gonna lose approx a quarter of his contract. I'm sure that he will tell everyone I'm picking on him but I'm gonna ask MY boss (who made the decision) to tell him himself so there can be no confusion.....probably won't stop him bitching about me tho.
So in summary ... if anyone here is fortunate enough to get a promotion to boss status ...... don't do what I did and think that doing the staff favours constantly will work and that you will get favours in return because it won't, all that happens is they expect more and more every day and when you actually expect them to do their job you get slagged off for it. Just be a bitch a from the start and then at least you earn the abuse
