You are entitled to paid time off work for antenatal visits while you are pregnant, and can continue working for as long as you feel comfortable doing so. You can, however, start your maternity leave and receive maternity benefit from 11 weeks before your expected date of delivery.

As long as you fulfil certain criteria, you are also entitled not to be dismissed from work because of your pregnancy, and to return to your old job after the baby is born.

Your employers should have all the details relevant, so discuss your plans with them. In addition, in the UK, the Maternity Alliance can give you up-to-date information.
