Thanks for sharing your story with us, Natasha.  From my experience I can tell you that counting calories has been a life saver, but in part this has been because I don't take calorie counting that seriously and I knew a couple things about nutrition before I even started.  Yeah, knowing about nutrition before you start can help, so you know the difference between those calories who are empty and the ones that aren't.


It's great you have found a balance and a method that help you keep the extra weight off, eating healthy is the real key, sometimes the way to get to that is by calorie counting and portion control.  That's how I learn more and more about nutrition and learnt to be more conscious of what I eat.
