Acting silly is the best way for me to cheer myself up. I usually do something that I would want to do as a little girl. I have been known to hula hoop, go get an ice cream cone, swing on some swings, go hang upside down somewhere and/or flip over the bars, play a manic game of tether ball with my kid, watch something that makes me laugh until my belly hurts or call a friend who does the same. getting too immersed in adulting is a surefire way to bring on stress. I will do whatever it takes to make myself not be so serious for too many days in a row. It is necessary to retain focus, but when it devolves into worry, worry solves nothing. Sometimes the mental switch that play provides brings us the available brain space to think more creatively about the problems that are weighing us down. Forget what you think other people will say, you are taking care of your mental health, which takes care of your physical health, so PLAY!
