Take a deep breath before anything. If you're not confident you may panic, but there's no need to. If you like this guy show it, find some common ground with him - and get his attention by impressing him with your similar knowledge that he'd be interested in. Then he's hooked.

Also, always stay in your comfort zone and don't try and be someone else.
