I don't have a best friend, but I've never really formed that connectuon with anyone.  I babysit occasionally, but even then, they're more Mum's friends since I'm always introduced as 'her daughter' which leads to condescension and me just giving up on trying to socialise at all.  The kids I sit I classify as friends, but otherwise the ''friends'' I had in high school weren't real friends - learned that lesson the hard way.
