You couldn't have said it better. I agree with you. Too nice is often perceived as passivity and being passive doesn't work well if you're like that all the time. Some people take advantage of other's niceness and you should not give them a chance to do so. You need to voice out your concerns so that you don't end up being abused. Being overly passive is a weakness.
