I actually went for style the last time I bought a winter coat. Of course, it was not uncomfortable, or flimsy. But it wasn't especially warm either. But I don't really mind; I just layer up underneath. That way, the coat can last me from autumn to spring (in Quebec's freezing temperature!) and it can be wore over dresses on a fresh but not freezsing nigh out, just like I can walk an hour in the cold because if the weather goes down, I wear a lot of warm peels!
