OMG that book is absolutely everywhere. Ok, I just downloaded a copy to my kindle (I am VERY embarrassed to admit this, but it's all good). The book is definitely softcore porn, which is fine. Ladies, we need our fix, am I right?

But, as a feminist, the Christian/Anastasia romantic dynamic makes me really annoyed. I haven't read the whole book, but he comes across as this domineering father figure who does some really creepy stuff. Case in point, he tracks her down to a bar using GPS, saving her from getting drunk and hooking up with someone embarrassing. At the same time, at least the main character is somewhat self-aware in thinking about the creepiness of that particular encounter herself.

At the same time, as a feminist, I like that women are popularizing a piece of literature where the main character is comfortable having sex. This is like the anti-Twilight, where chastity is fetishized instead of sex. But the most irksome part of both novel - the trope of helpless female and dominating hero male, is in both. That makes me so annoyed! I want a female hero who makes her own sexual choices.

/end rant
