Are any of you girls into anime?
Maybe I'm a bit weird, but I've been addicted to anime since I was in middle school, maybe a bit over 10 years? I love watching it because the stories are so interesting, giving me a good break in reality and good character personalities that are relate-able and you end up actually sorta caring for what happens to them. It's just like watching TV shows, only typically slightly less real-life and it's drawn.

I like to read the Manga(Picture books, basically.) Too. They are typically better than the anime themselves.

Do we have any anime fans here?

I rarely watch anime, I'm more into manga...but I love Sailor Moon anime, it's my favorite! I've watched it so many times already that I sometimes feel like some of the characters were my friends, silly me:p Anyway, even though I'm an adult, Sailor Moon makes me cry, makes me laugh. I will always love watching it. It's a great story and it's so beautifully drawn.
 
I have a huge manga collection, but I'd have to say that I'm into both equally. I loved sailor moon too when I was younger, I remember watching it ever day. Did you know that sailor moon is being rebooted and remade for it's like.. 20th anniversary(Or something like that.) It was suppose to be coming out this summer but it's been delayed until who knows when.
That's the thing about anime, you get so into it and the characters do become your friends.
 
To be honest, I am not a HUGE anime fan in that respect. But I am a lesbian and therefore I am always searching for lesbian or gay representation on television, whether it be cartoon or real dramas, or movies. I will always watch. I have found myself searching the internet for this too, and that is when I found such a thing called Yuri. Yuri basically means girl love. I love Yuri anime. There have been some pretty amazing ones out there and I am always looking for more. I enjoyed Strawbery Panic, Kannazuki no Miko was another touching one. Just beautiful. I cry because of these Yuris more than I cry watching normal shows lol.

Sailor Moon is being rebooted and remade? I had no idea! This is quite exciting. I've seen all the episodes so many times already that I could quote any line:p I also know all the songs, some of them are really beautiful.
Who is your favorite character? I love Usagi(of course:)), Haruka and Michiru, Zoisite, Kunzite and Yaten:D
 
I like Yuri Anime as well, though I actually haven't seen the ones you've mentioned. To be honest most of the yuri I've seen was very much Hentai. (Anime porn.)

@Claudine: Yup! Me and my husband are debating getting it when it comes out, just for old times sake. My favorite characters would likely be Usagi and then Tuxedo mask! and Haruka/Michiru.

Yay, someone else that has actually seen Yuri Anime lol. So many people that I talk to about this have absolutely no idea what I am jabbering on about. Also, the ones that do watch Anime just watch normal Anime, and do not watch Yuri. I say that there needs to be more Yuri's made. I hate the pornographic ones. I am not in it just for the lesbian sex. I like the ones with a story, the cute and sweet ones. I love those ones. The ones about porn, just remind me of lesbian porn that is made for men and by men. It is REALLY unappealing to actual lesbians in real life.
 
I love anime! My big show right now is Saint Seiya Omega. It's a lot of fun.

I'm not really into yuri or yaoi. I just want to see people beating the crap out of each other. That, and some romance. :)

Hahahah! We have a violent one here lmao! I find the ones about characters just kicking the crap out of one another REALLY boring. There has to be a good story line surrounding it if I am going to have to sit through a lot of fighting. Like in Kannazuki No Miko, the fighting as beautiful and so emotive. It had a major purpose within the story line and it was voiced over and illustrated so skillfully. I have cried every time I have watched kannazuki No Miko. Beautiful yet so sad at the same time, but they always find one another again in the next life so...

I think that's fair. However, it's interesting to me because of the fighting itself. I find it very interesting to see how a fight between two characters go. It shows quick thinking and it's fun to watch the flow of the battle, in my opinion.

I suppose that you are a fan of Dragonball Z then. When I was in school, and my cousin would come around to my house after school, he would always ask me to put Cartoon Network on so that he could watch Dragonball Z. We would always end up arguing because that shit was the most boring shit ever to curse my TV screen. Just a whole bunch of fighting, and sometimes the fighting wouldn't even show character or uniqueness.
 
I didn't watch it much, but I feel that DBZ has a story. It's just that all the character development was done in DB and those who get some in DBZ don't get much screen time.

In my opinion, there is more to a story than just plot and getting from A to B.

I started reading the Evangelion and Ghost In The Shell mangas, but before that I read Naruto and Air Gear.

However tonight I watched all 16 episodes of Attack On Titan in one sitting... pretty dark anime but it's really good and I can understand why it's so popular on Tumblr :D
